This project was initiated and developed by The Advanced Therapy Treatment Centre network and the Cell and Gene Therapy Catapult to identify and analyse CAR-T patient referral pathways in the UK and make recommendations about how this might be improved. The Christie and NHSBT conducted surveys and interviews with CAR-T centres in England (who also receive referrals from the devolved nations), and those centres referring into these CAR-T treatment centres. The project looked at CAR-T cell therapy products in both routine use and in clinical trials and was delivered under the Association of British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI) collaborative working framework. It was funded and received input from Autolus Limited, Gilead Sciences Ltd and Janssen-Cilag Limited.
The project resulted in the publication of a white paper ‘Future-proofing the UK CAR-T patient referral pathway’ containing a list of conclusive recommendations to improve the patient referral pathway. Click here to read the report in full.
