Somatic cell therapy medicinal products, a sub-category of advanced therapeutic medicinal products (ATMPs), consists of live cells or tissues intended to provide a therapeutic benefit to patients. These live cells are often preserved by cryopreservation. Cryopreservation provides increased time at some key points of the ATMP manufacturing workflow, such as for the transport of products allowing greater scheduling flexibility.
