We are delighted to share the news that one of our partners has begun delivering CAR-T treatments. Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (STH) was designated as an approved Wave 3 NHS England and NHS Improvement CAR-T centre late last year.
The Sheffield Blood and Marrow Transplant & Cellular Therapy Programme at STH has an excellent track record of working with NHS Blood and Transplant to harvest and store stem cells, which T-cells are a sub-set of.
STH will be using this extensive experience to lead the way with the development of this new and hugely promising programme of work on behalf of patients in South Yorkshire, Bassetlaw, Chesterfield and beyond.
STH is the eleventh hospital in the country to deliver the treatment to adults, and the first CAR-T therapy centre in South Yorkshire. More information can be found here.
